Technology and defensive medicine are the two biggest drivers of health care costs. You can't control technology costs except for denying coverage for certain new procedures and tests. We can't control unnecessary testing (defensive medicine) because that would be unacceptable to the trial attorneys and they are a core constituency of the democratic party. You can't cut physician payments because that will limit access. You can't cut insurance company profits (35%) because they are large contributors to both parties.

Why is the American working man left out in the cold on health care reform and if Bush and Clinton can join together to help Haitians, why can't they join forces help uninsured Americans and develop ways to limit escalating health care costs.

Recognizing that the process to overhaul health care has been less than efficient,“I wish we had gotten it done faster.” I agree! There is too much game playing and not enough working together for the better of the US.
