UNUM rejection

By Sandra Dudley

Published February 2001

I have just received a rejection letter from Unum. I have Fibromyalgia. In my appeal after receiving long term payments from Unum for 1 year, I had 7 doctors send letters again, after seeing me in January 2001. I am on a lot of Medication, I was as Office manager, and handled hundreds of thousand of dollars, now I am lucky to balance my checking account. I am in constant pain, trouble with sight, left side numbness, and falling.
I have contacted a lawyer in Chicago, a Mr. Mark Debofsky.

I guess my question is do I go with the lawyer now, which I can hardly afford, or file with the State Insurance Complaint Bureau, as this insurance was part of my benefit package when I was hired with the company. Any input would be appreciated.
