HB 50 conforms to modern models of nursing

By Eric Doerfler, NP

Published November 1999

Read the article, am am just amazed that this sort of thing still finds its way into the media.  It is unsubstantiated claptrap!  HB50 is a well-written bill that conforms to modern models of nursing practice, models that have been supported by the Institute of Medicine and the Pew Foundation, to name just two.  As far as I'm concerned, the outcry from organized medicine is either well-meaning, but completely incorrect--in which case our educative efforts should correct their misapprehensions soon; or it's merely a turf war intended to mollify the fears of a few docs who believe that nursing is out to take their jobs.   What silliness!  What a mean-spirited approach to public health--if the latter is the case!
