CAT Fund is only a band-aid

I would like to respond to your article in the June 1997 issue of Physician's News Digest titled "CAT Fund Issue Still Caustic."

For many years I have been stating as loudly as possible that our problem is not the CAT Fund—the major problem being the need for tort reform. I find it abominable that the Pennsylvania Medical Society agreed to a four year moratorium with the trial lawyers regarding seeking further medical liability tort reform in Pennsylvania.

It appears that no one remembers why the CAT Fund came into existence in the first place. To remove without credible tort reform will only take us back in history to where we were.
